We hope you are all well. We are missing you all lots and hope that you are healthy. As you may have seen on social media, The Fernwood Family has been pulling together to make PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for our keyworkers across the country. Over the course of three days staff and students worked (2 metres apart) in a production line to laser cut, assemble and deliver, 240 face shields and 200 face clips (see images below). Some of the PPE has gone to City Hospital, QMC, Boots, Wollaton Park Care Home, Hope Bank View (Sunderland) and a few other deliveries were made locally by Mr Burke! A great team effort and a fantastic community to be a part of. A big thank you must go to our local electronics suppliers Kitronik who supplied us with materials and the DXF file to help us make them.
There have been many more stories of staff and students supporting each other in time of need. Another example is Miss Daffe, she has joined a local support centre called ‘Scrub Hub Notts’ where she has helped produce 500 sets of scrubs for NHS staff to wear whilst on the front line! A brilliant achievement.
Have you been involved in helping your community, if so drop us a message on Twitter @FernwoodDT or @Fernwoodsch as we’d love to hear what you have been up to!
Stay safe and best wishes,
The Fernwood Family
