Dear Parents and Carers
I wanted to thank you for the manner in which the majority of students have responded to the new school day. All students, without exception, prefer a 3.00pm finish!
A number of you expressed concern with regards the temporary cessation of lunch time clubs and I want to take this opportunity to clarify the rationale which was shared with Governors on December the 5th. Due to the building work, space on site is understandably reduced. This has forced a split lunch arrangement as previously shared. This does mean that some staff are tutoring whilst others are on lunch. It is important to ensure that routines are established and that a calm orderly school is maintained. The commencement of lunch clubs will be reviewed at the earliest opportunity given the new constraints. It is highly probable that not as many will be available as before. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable.
On another note I wanted to inform you that Mrs Last is retiring at Christmas. I want to publically thank her for over 20 years of service to the Fernwood Community. I know her tutor group were particularly shocked when they were told. We all wish her the very best for the future.
School will finish at 1:30pm on December the 21st. I would like to wish you all a joyful and restful Christmas and we looked forward to seeing all our young people, smartly dressed and ready to start lessons at 8:30 on Monday January 7th 2019.
Year 11 will receive their Mock Exam results in January. It is important that Year 11 use the holiday to rest but also ensure that they are up to date with all their subjects.
I hope you enjoy the Christmas break.
