Student Well-being Advice

Published on 18th March 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are aware that our young people may be feeling anxious in light of all the current news surrounding Coronavirus. We would like to ensure that they feel supported with their well-being during this time and especially if schools have to close. There are many excellent support services available either online or via telephones that I would like to share with you. – online support service for young people aged 10 -24.

Childline – 08001111 plus an excellent website – – includes advice and a helpline for parents/carers

Young minds crisis messenger – The YoungMinds Crisis Messenger text service provides free, 24/7 crisis support across the UK. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis and need support, you can text YM to 85258.

I would also recommend the app, ‘Headspace’, which has a free beginner’s course on meditation, which many of our young people may find helpful.

If you have increased concerns about your child’s mental health then do phone your GP or go to a & e in an emergency.

Kind regards
Mrs Cannon
