As of Friday, the Government advised against continuing with all overseas trips for students under the age of 18. Given the circumstances this is most sensible. Should staff or students contract the virus it is difficult to foresee how such circumstances could be adequately catered for.
I want to proceed in such a manner, that there is minimal or zero financial loss to your family. I am therefore keeping the trips booked for now until we have got more information. However, parents and pupils should be prepared for the trips being either rearranged or cancelled. My fear is that if I notify the companies as headteacher that I am cancelling the trip all monies may be lost. Hence, I am proceeding with caution whilst agreeing with government advice.
The staff organising the trips are looking into this situation. They will provide you with relevant information as it becomes available.
The staff organising the trips are as follows:
The following information has been received from Camp International today:
We would like to assure you we are continuing to monitor this unique and rapidly evolving situation very closely. At the time of writing, Camps International have no UK school expeditions due to depart for another 3-4 months and it is our understanding that the recent Government advice does not yet affect these expeditions.
For the latest information regarding our expeditions, please refer to our website which we will continue to update as this situation develops:
Please rest assured, although we won’t be sending daily or regular email updates, if there are any significant changes to your expedition we will contact you and your team directly.
Thank you for your understanding in these circumstances and I know that you will appreciate the time given by the staff in organising these trips and now dealing with the potential consequences of the coronavirus.
