The Fernwood School enjoys an excellent reputation. It is an oversubscribed school which has been judged as ‘outstanding’ in all categories by Ofsted.
We have a rare opportunity to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly skilled leader of Computer Systems (ICT) capable of planning and delivering a high quality curriculum at both KS3 and KS4.
The Fernwood School has a thriving, well equipped and forward thinking Computer Systems department and you would be joining a high performing and cohesive team of teachers and technical staff. The department delivers a wide mix of modern experiences in computer science, media, and broader digital technologies. The department is part of the ‘Art, Design & Technology’ faculty, where staff work closely together.
The department benefits from 3 well equipped modern computer suites, along with a smaller break out room for group teaching. The department has a wide variety of equipment and facilities from HD video cameras, to class packs of Raspberry pies and ‘Makey Makey’ sets.
We have been a ‘Computing at School’ lead for several years, being an important part of their network of excellence. We also boast one of the largest code clubs in the region with 40+ students attending on a weekly basis.
