I am writing to inform you of a really exciting event that your son/daughter will take part in on Wednesday 28th January 2015, The Fernwood School Design Day, which has been organised by the design & technology department.
The day will involve all of our Year 9 students and a variety of well-known global and local organisations. The aim is to provide the students with a taste of real life industrial practice.
The year group will be taken off timetable for the day, and will work alongside professional designers to solve real life design and engineering briefs. This is a huge opportunity for our students, with the department managing to secure a diverse range of companies including; Dyson, Triumph, CBP Architects, Jaguar/Land Rover, Bloodhound SSC, Wheatcroft foods and more! The students will select their preferred brief and will attempt to solve it alongside professional designers using a range of techniques which link with the curriculum projects carried out in school.
‘Design Day’ will inspire and encourage creativity, project management, analytical thinking and problem solving skills, whilst also replicating exactly what happens in the design industry.
I am also writing to ask for your permission to use a celebration video that your son/daughter may appear in. The celebration video contains a series of photos and videos taken by the students on the day. As a thankyou to the companies that kindly give up their time to work with us on the day, we would like to share this video with them. Here is a link to last year’s video http://vimeo.com/86054738.
If you do not wish your son/daughter to be used in the celebration video could you let me know using the following email address email@example.com and I will remove any images of your child.
We thank you for your support, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions or require any further information.
