Dear Parents and Carers
I am writing to inform you about a planned change in our school day on Friday 18th December. Students will be in their normal lessons until break-time (10.30am). After break, as is our Fernwood tradition, there will be an end of term celebratory assembly followed by lunch at 12.30pm. Students will be registered by their tutors at 1.15pm and school will close for the Christmas holiday at 1.30pm.
The final day will be a non-uniform day and we would like to invite students to wear a Christmas themed jumper or an item of red, green, silver or gold clothing. Clothes must be suitable for school. There is of course no obligation to wear non-uniform and if students do not wish to participate they must wear their full school uniform.
If there are any students who are not able to leave school at 1.30pm, staff will still be on site and able to supervise until 3.10pm Please let your child’s tutor know if he/she needs supervision.
There will be an information evening for parents of Year 7 and 8 students on Wednesday 6th January 2016 (6.30-7.30pm). We would like to invite you to attend a special parents’ presentation meeting in the School Hall to help you understand a little more about The Fernwood Award. We will explain to you fully how this new positive opportunity really can enhance everything that your sons and daughters are doing, both inside and outside school.
We hope you will be able to attend, making you better informed and understanding how you will be able to encourage your children to take a full and active part in this venture. Your sons and daughters have had their own assembly explaining the award to them in detail so please; do not bring them along as we will be very pushed for space.
If you attended one of these meetings last year when we launched the scheme there is no need for you to come along again, this is intended for anyone that could not attend initially.
We very much look forward to seeing you at the parents’ presentation meeting.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the school and wish you a peaceful Christmas break.
Yours sincerely
Mrs T Rees
