RE: Year 7 Visit to Sherwood Pines – Wednesday 28h September 2016
On Wednesday 28th September 2016 the school intends to hold an Activities Day for all Year 7 students. The trip has successfully operated over many years and is one of the events which, when students are asked to reflect back on their first year at Fernwood, always tops the list of one of the highlights of the year. The aims are to help develop tutor group relationships at this important transitional stage between junior and secondary school and to enable students to participate in activities not normally available in school.
We would like to take the students to Sherwood Pines Forest Park where they will be involved in sessions such as orienteering, shelter building, quiz trails and other activities.
In order to avoid traffic congestion, at the start of the school day, the coaches will leave and return to the Waitrose car park on Trowell Road. Students will be required to meet their tutor at Waitrose at 8.25 a.m. At the end of the day students will be returned to school between 3.15 pm and 3.20pm
Children will not be required to wear school uniform; instead they will need to be dressed in outdoor clothes (including a waterproof coat and sun cream) and shoes suitable for the above activities. Students will need a change of clothes and a packed lunch. If your child is entitled to free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided.
The cost of the trip is £13 per child to cover all coach and admission costs. We have worked hard to keep this price low and unfortunately if insufficient contributions are received then the trip will be unable to take place.
Please sign and return the attached reply slip at your earliest convenience to be handed to your child’s tutor. Payment is to be made online through Parentpay by September 21st.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
