Dear Parent/Carer,
We are writing to update you with the plan for the Year 9 Options process this year. Unfortunately, with COVID infections still exceptionally high it is with regret that we have taken the decision for this event to be online.
The students will still get the opportunity to talk to their teachers about subjects and courses in their classes, and we will ensure that all students have the opportunity to find out more information about courses and ask relevant questions, within the school day.
In the meantime, please visit the options page of the school website. The page is full of useful information and videos about the school’s curriculum offer at Key Stage 4 – Year 9 Options Page Link.
As mentioned in our previous correspondence, each year, students are placed in one of three pathways which offer a tailored curriculum to meet the needs of each student. The curriculum offer is broad and balanced across exam based and vocational subjects.
Pathways
We will confirm the pathways for each student when these have been finalised.
Options Evening – Revised date Wednesday 23rd February 2022
Over the next three weeks, the options page will be updated with this year’s options booklets, and an overview of the options blocks and all courses. This includes written information, FAQs and videos, which will allow you to guide and steer your child’s decision for their Key Stage 4 options.
On the evening of Wednesday 23rd February, there will be a live online event with a presentation from Mr Crandley – Assistant Head Teacher and Mr Rothwell – Head of Year.
Following the Options Evening, students will make their choices and submit them using a Google form by the provisional deadline of Monday 14th March 2022.
I will write to you again in a couple of weeks with further information about the students’ opportunities and information for the online event.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Crandley
Assistant Head Teacher – Curriculum
Mr Rothwell
Head of Year 9
