The 2012 School Admissions Code removed the requirement for Local Authorities (in this area, Nottingham City Council) to co-ordinate in-year applications from September 2013 and subsequent years. Governors at Fernwood have decided that they do not wish the City Council to co-ordinate such arrangements on their behalf. This means parents/carers wishing to apply for an in-year place at The Fernwood School should make a direct application to the school, and not the City Council, using The Fernwood School application form available below.
An in-year application is one made other than at the time of the normal admissions round and applies to places in all year groups, including any application received from 1 September for a current year 7 place. The normal admissions round is an application to transfer from Junior or Primary school to the school made in October for admission in the following September. It is important to be aware that for the normal admissions round the City Council will continue to co-ordinate arrangements and requests for such places should still be made to the City Council at the appropriate time using the Council’s common application form.
Governors have signed-up to a protocol with the City Council on in-year admissions and will supply timely information to the City Council in order that the Council may fulfil its safeguarding and admissions monitoring responsibilities.
Further information on the matters referred to above may be obtained from the Attendance Officer (email email@example.com or telephone 0115 9286326).
