Accessing Google Classroom

Submitting Work to Google Classroom

Empowering students and parents to take more control over their learning.

A digital home for all your child’s classes – Teachers set homework and some in class assignments within the ‘classwork tab’, but can share information, announcements, web-links and questions within the ‘stream’ tab.

Better organisation – Students can see assignments on the To-do page, in the class stream, or on the class calendar. All class materials are automatically filed into Google Drive folders.

Enhanced communication and feedback – Teachers can create assignments, send announcements, and instantly start class discussions. Students can share resources with each other and interact in the class stream. Teachers can also quickly see who has or hasn’t completed the work, and give direct, real-time feedback and grades.

Works with apps you use – Classroom works with Google Docs, Calendar, Gmail, Drive, and Forms.

Affordable and secure – Classroom is free. Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes.

Access from home via computer or mobile device

Google classroom can be accessed from any internet browser, or can be downloaded as an ‘app’ to any mobile device (Apple, Android and even Kindle) completely for free. Please click here for help sheet instructions. For help with Submitting Work to Google Classroom click here.

  • From a computer always access Google Classroom via the school ‘hub’, never go directly into classroom (this ensures you are signed in with the correct account).
  • If you are struggling to log in via the app, double check you are signing in with your full school email address.

Year 7

When students start school in September they will automatically be enrolled in Google Classroom.  Students will be shown in their ICT lessons how to use the system and how to access it from home.

Parents of new starters to the school

You will receive an email from Google inviting you to join your child’s classes. This will be sent to the primary email address we have for you. Please check your junk/spam folder if you have not seen this. We will text you in September for new year 7 students when the invite is being sent.

  • Please accept the invite.
  • You should now start to receive weekly emails, which Google automatically sends early on a Saturday morning (normally).
  • The email will give you a summary of homework set, materials now available, discussions and extra resources for your child. It will also highlight the work that was handed in late or is yet to be completed (assuming your child remembered to ‘mark as done’ for each piece completed).
  • You can change your preference to daily emails if you so wish (there is a link within the weekly email).
  • Please be aware that as a parent you will not be able to see your child’s classes via the app, you will only receive an email. If you would like to see more, please ask your child to show you it once they have logged in.
