‘Please pass on my thanks of praise to your colleagues for arranging and delivery an excellent Year 9 Design Day. The event once again exceeded my expectations. This was due to the variety of employers and their willingness to engage with the pupil’s. It was also due to the very high standard of the pupil’s work and the commitment from the staff’ – Fernwood School governor
“Wow wow wow! This school looks amazing! This is fantastic!” – Twitter follower
“To The Fernwood School, I hope this finds you well, we just wanted to send a message to say thank you for inviting us to your Design Day last month!
It was so encouraging to see the students get interested and ask lots of questions about what we do, and to get stuck into the design task we set them. They all worked brilliantly in their teams, and I think I speak for all three of us when I say we were very impressed with the quality of work they produced, there was some brilliant CAD and PowerPoints presented in the short time they had to work with! I’d also like to thank yourself for welcoming us, and also for your excellent support throughout the day, encouraging the students to answer questions and think outside the box (and with the accidental lockdown drill!).
The Design Day event is a great idea to get the students interested in design subjects, and it is very clear how much time and hard work goes into organising Design Day (and Mr Mellors deserves a thank you for that too). It’s great to see staff that are so invested in encouraging design subjects and it definitely makes me wish my school did something similar when I was that age!
Finally I’d like to say thank you for you for the little plaque you sent and all the students’ written notes with it, it was very thoughtful and definitely put a smile on our faces on Monday! I hope that the students enjoyed the day as much as we did, and that we encouraged a least a few of them to think about design/engineering in their options and as a potential career!
