Required for January 2021, we are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly skilled teacher of both Design & Technology and Art & Design. The successful candidate would be capable of delivering KS3 lessons across multiple material areas, and KS4 in at least one of the two specialisms.
The Fernwood School has a thriving, well equipped and forward-thinking ADT faculty and you would be joining a high performing and cohesive team of teachers and technical staff. The ADT faculty as a whole, has a strong reputation throughout the midlands, and is one of only 4 leading edge schools for D&T nationwide having achieved multiple awards for the quality of our teaching and our broader curriculum approach.
The faculty comprises Design & Technology, Food & Health, Art & Design and ICT, within which staff work very closely and collaboratively.
The department benefits from 3 well equipped mixed material workshops, with modern CNC equipment, 3D printers, full casting and metal work facilities, large bed laser cutter, A0 printer, along with electronics and robotics equipment and much more. We are lucky to have 3 dedicated D&T specific computer rooms within the department, with industry standard CAD and graphics software installed including access to graphics tablets as needed.
The Art department benefits from 3 well equipped modern mixed material art rooms, along with its own ICT suite (with access to all adobe software, graphics tablets etc.).
Further information on the work of the department can be found on our website, and also on our twitter feed @fernwooddt and @fernwoodarttex
The role is intended to be 50:50 split subject to timetabling. This may be of interest to a newly qualified teacher, or a teacher with further experience.
Interview date: to be confirmed (provisionally 15, 16 October 2020)
Application forms and further details are available to the right under supporting documents. Please note: the application form is in Word 97-2003 format (.doc).
